I called to follow up on a client and that is what he told me, he was reciting something from our session. Those words meant a lot to him and he took them to heart so to speak where they became fact and resulted in him putting the cigarettes out for good.
I’m unaware of the feeling sensations or imagery that his mind conjured up as I gave him that suggestion in a hypnotic state. But whatever it was it created a more favorable relationship to the thought of being a non smoker, perhaps it was a feeling of pride that overcame the feeling of the need to smoke.

So what that means is we can change our association with a bad habit like smoking by making the memory of smoking seem awful and contradictory to who we are.
