Does Hypnosis Work?

Does Hypnosis Work? Hypnosis in Dallas Testimonials Say Yes.

I don’t get asked that question very often anymore.  But 10 years ago when I started out I did. Today I credit the internet for helping to change our perception of hypnosis by making it more accessible and familiar.  On line there are websites offering free training in self hypnosis, hypnosis recordings on I-tunes, hypnosis videos on YouTube, hypnosis MeetUps, and dedicated social networks.

I believe hypnosis has become a comfortable topic to talk about because of exposure. There is even a reality series that came out a few years ago and now a movie, called Trance.  Now when I meet someone and they hear I’m a hypnotist, the typical response is, “Oh, my brother did that to quit smoking and he hasn’t smoked for 10 years, can I have your card?”

People are finding hypnosis a natural resource to get help in overcoming a self defeating belief or counter productive habit with ease and speed.  It is a modality that happens at the subconscious level, books of recent talk about changing the subconscious for success, but they don’t really talk about how to do that.  For example in the book, “The Secret” the author presents a method for connecting you with what you want via a daily “affirmation.”

However, if your belief is counter to that affirmation it won’t happen. Why?  Because the belief is subconscious and that part of our mind is 90% of our behavior.  To make an affirmation work, which is a conscious intention, the subconscious has to be programmed to carry out that conscious intent. And hypnosis is the programming tool, it is the missing part of the self help success puzzle.
