That reminded me about how hypnosis helped a previous client with pre-surgery anxiety and faster healing. Here is what Larry said about the hypnosis CD for pre-surgery anxiety:

So how did hypnosis work in this case?
For Larry what we did was create a favorable outcome of the surgery, which his mind naturally identified with. Also, while in a trance state, I gave him suggestions that prior to surgery he would be calm, relaxed and positive. In addition, the suggestion that he would be able to speed up the healing, twice as fast as the doctor’s suggestion.
Basically the concept here is that the subconscious mind doesn’t distinguish between a real or imagined event. Hypnosis allows access to the subconscious mind. And because Larry wanted this positive outcome he accepted the suggestions I have him.
