Inner Conflict Must Occur for Successful Hypnosis Smoking Cessation.

So why would an inner conflict need to arise in order for someone to be successful using hypnosis for smoking cessation?

Basically it is the way the mind works.  Internal conflict drives us to one side or the other, to one behavior or another. This is explained in the ‘theory of mind,’ which is part of my hypnosis consultation.  The ‘theory of mind has three basic principles for how we operate in life:

  • Identification
  • Association
  • Response

Let’s say you want to stop smoking naturally.  To do that you must go back to why you started, when you learned to smoke, you were not born with that wired into your primitive mind.

What happens at first is that your body says, “no, please don’t smoke that, it is making me sick” (an internal conflict); but your desire (overcomes the initial conflict) to be a part of a group, or to “act out” during your teenage years was stronger then the body’s signal.

After time, your body adapts to the condition.  Then you begin to build a habit around the smoking…you begin to ASSOCIATE it with what you do after a meal, after having an argument, driving, or what you do first thing in the morning, etc.  Our RESPONSE is to smoke.

Then we reach a point in our lives, sometimes decades later where we want to stop because we are coughing, have no energy, tired of the expense, feel like an outcast, etc.  But we realize our habit is so engrained we can’t just say, I’m putting them down and walking away.”  Therein is the new conflict and that is actually the motivation we need to change a habit.

Hypnosis stop smoking helps to increase the DESIRE to be a non smoker with all those benefits so that the person has a new association and response, for more about this, please call for your consultation.
