What is an Imprint and why does it make me fat?
Imprints are information we receive directly and indirectly that we associate with and accept as a belief about ourselves or a brand of laundry soap or even low-fat granola bars. In one way it is advertising. Advertising usually is done to solve a problem. Problem: We know we need to eat better, but there is no time. Solution: Brand X creates a frozen lunch meal and labels it “Quick-n-Easy Low Calorie Lunch” and we are drawn to it and realizing problem solved, toss about 5 of them into our cart. What it doesn’t say is that it is loaded with MSG and has no good fats so they’ve added corn syrup to make it taste better.

The body naturally produces sugar and it is fed to your brain, when we rely on artificial glucose for a quick fix, it desensitizes the receptors on our cells, thereby interfering with feedback loops, disrupting communication so your body stops producing natural brain food and relies on your quick fix (but it can go back to its natural state).
- Artificial sweeteners are chemically heavy and cause more cravings
- MSG a flavor enhancer is in 80% of our processed foods and lures is into the processed world by good flavor, but basically MSG = obesity (watch for names like ‘natural flavors’, ‘yeast extract’, ‘modified food starch’ that is how MSG is labeled).
The best advice is to stay away from
- Diet products
- Fat free
- Processed and chemically based foods

- Most marketed to appeal to quick fix or with the use of a new trendy ingredient
WHAT’S RIGHT WITH YOUR BODY:
Your body knows how to be its right size and shape, tuning into your natural instincts is key to this.
One way to do that is to go to the grocery store and stand in the produce aisle, make sure that you are feeling a little hungry when you do this and just notice what appeals to you. If you were out in the wild and had to eat something in the produce section what would it be?
What ever you walk over to is probably what your body needs. Buy it. Eat it.
