Want Successful Weight Loss with Hypnosis? Start with a new inner conflict.

So why would an inner conflict need to arise in order for someone to be successful using hypnosis for weight loss?

Because the mind naturally works with internal conflict to drive us to one side or the other, to one behavior or another based on an experience. This is explained in the ‘theory of mind,’ which is part of my hypnosis consultation.  The ‘theory of mind’ has three basic principles for how we operate in life:

  1. Identification
  2. Association
  3. Response

So looking at the process is important so you can lose weight naturally.

First there was IDENTIFICATION:

  • From Child’s Perspective: The only time my family seems happy is when we are eating desert after dinner.

Then came the ASSOCIATION:

  • Desert makes me/us happy.

Then comes the RESPONSE:

  • I’m sad, get me some desert.

But then we reach a point in our lives when we want to stop dessert because we are overweight, have no energy, don’t feel good about ourselves, etc.  But we realize our habit is so engrained we can’t just say, “I’m putting the desert fork down and walking away.”  Therein is the new conflict, we WANT TO STOP BUT WE CAN’T BECAUSE IT IS A SUBCONSCIOUS HABIT.  That conflict is actually the motivation we need to change a habit and hypnosis for weight loss helps to increase the DESIRE so that the person has a new association and response.
