“I love it when the client comes in with their completed vision board, it is like the little kid on “show-n-tell” day. It is wonderful to see their creativity come out and they also really seem to get connected to their goal on a deeper, more meaningful level,” says hypnotist Valerie Grimes.
Instructions for making your Vision Board
Start with a statement about you, as you are beginning to define yourself. Ideally it should be about 20 sentences.
The first one is:
I Am ____________ (your name). The rest of it is declaring who you are and what you want for yourself.
Keep a positive tone, focusing on what you want. Keep it in first person and in present tense as if it is happening now, even if it feels like it hasn’t happened yet. This is about what you want, not what you don’t want.
Apply your I AM statement visually using magazine pictures, actual photos, photos from the internet, glitter, fabric, whatever you feel best expresses your I AM.
Your VISION BOARD can be any size, however I would suggest a minimum of 16×20.
It will visually depict your Future Self as having met your goals and outcomes.
Keep it positive in tone, focus on the words and picture you want, not what you don’t want.
Add words, numbers, and symbols.
The benefit is that you see visually what it is that you want and are working towards. It allows your mind to work with your body to get there.
