Before we begin the hypnosis program for weight loss, we evaluate other areas of a person’s life. And in doing so, we usually suggest they start with a detox- a physical as well as mental detox. Because when we detox both our minds and body a person can get out of their own way breaking the cycle of repeating habits that don’t serve them anymore. And weight loss follows.
Physical detox or cleanse
There are products you can purchase to facilitate an internal cleanse, it can also be done by eliminating starchy, fatty and surgery foods as well as caffeine and alcohol for a period of a week. Often people find that their mental clarity improves when these foods are eliminated and some decide to continue without them. As the body releases toxics it can have a temporary flu-like feeling, drinking more water helps. Seek the advice of a nutritional expert for the best detox or cleanse for you and your situation.
The process of mental detox is like the body detoxing, in that we have to give something up. In the weight loss program, we start with a 30-day program with clients selecting three of the seven items below. The objective is to bring awareness and clarity to their daily life.
Meditation-Select a quiet place, focus your gaze on an object and allow your thoughts to slow down, breath and relax.
Affirmation-You should have received a daily affirmation from me, if not, look in the mirror and tell yourself, “I LOVE YOU”-what more positive affirmation is there?
Gratitude Prayer-Wake up with a grateful heart, start the day by stating what you are grateful for.
Media Fast– eliminate news and talk radio, your friends will let you know the major events that really affect you.
Journaling-Spend 10 minutes per day getting your thoughts, feelings, attitude on the page…don’t worry about grammar– just let “it” flow.
Exercise-Work up to 30 minutes of cardio 5x a week.
Self Hypnosis– Your choice: listen to your CD, practice your stress reduction exercise, use controlled visualization as instructed in session.
Of course you can do all seven of these for best results. Of course as part of the weight program, hypnosis is used in conjunction with the detox process to clear the source of the counter productive habits and self-defeating beliefs. Also hypnosis is employed as a means of correcting emotional eating.
