When a person is ready to quit there is a hesitation because of the perceived idea it would be a challenge to find another source of relaxation. The idea that smoking is relaxing is a solid idea and the job of the hypnotist is to undo that concept, as long as the client is willing.
Self Hypnosis teaches a new way to relax.
It is not for overcoming difficult times or feelings, because if you are in that mind set, and then go into a state of hypnosis you could be heightening that negative state. Rather self-hypnosis is best for improving sports performance, create a satisfying night’s sleep, study skills and test prep, or to create a state of control or relaxation while quitting a habit such as smoking.
There are two laws of mind that govern this process.
They are the law of repetition and the law association. The later refers to the benefit of the repeated action (the first law) as you begin to associate the benefits (relaxation) with the act of self-hypnosis.
