Park Cities Weight Loss Hypnosis clinical hypnotist Valerie Grimes urges parents to be better examples to children.

A recent NPR online article was titled: In case you haven’t noticed, we’re fat, and getting fatter.

It went on to say, “If Americans stay on this path, 83 percent of men will be overweight or obese by 2020. Women are right behind them, with 72 percent projected to be overweight or obese by then.”

The article gives credit for these numbers to Mark Huffman, an assistant professor of preventive medicine and cardiology at Northwestern University.

One solution I feel would be effective is the ability for parents to set better examples for their children. Somewhere along the way in the past decade we have gotten the idea that inactivity is okay.

Children are counting on parents to provide love, shelter, nutritious food and education; as well as moral and ethical guidance. Because they don’t possess the critical factor of the mind until the teen years, children believe what their parents teach to be truth, whether it is true or not. Living with inactive people that eat processed foods is imprinted in that child and they believe that is the way it is. Growing up like that it becomes a difficult imprint to break. Hypnosis breaks those imprints.

Working with clients on an individual level we can examine the patterns and weaken them to build new healthy ones. Sometimes adults need the right motivation to change their patterns. Seems to me the thought of raising an obese child would be motivation enough. Hypnosis can also strengthen the motivation. If you are concerned your bad habits will affect your child for life, they will. Give me a call to discuss how you can change the statistics for the next generation, for your children and their children.
