Does Hypnosis Make You Cluck Like A Chicken

“As a hypnotist I hear the question, ‘Are you going to make me cluck like a chicken?’ quite often. I can thank the stage shows for that,” suggests Valerie Grimes, Certified Clinical Hypnotist.

She is a Dallas native and ex ad agency president but is now running a company called The Flow Center in the Oak Lawn area of Dallas. She has been hypnotizing a variety of the population demographic to change their behaviors since 2002.

“My training is very different from that of Stage Hypnotists in Comedy Clubs, but some of the tactics are similar. For example, I employ the same ‘post hypnotic suggestion’ method but for positive purposes,” explains Valerie, “Let’s say your ‘cluck’ is to be more confident, then I might suggest, every time you hear your phone ring, You Have An Overwhelming Feeling of Confidence. I help people feel confident every time their phone rings.”

Hypnosis has had is share of negative publicity from the way it is portrayed on television and movies to stage hypnotist shows. But, Valerie wants to change that. And she is ready for her profession to become mainstream like chiropractic is now. In the 1970s people referred to chiropractors as quacks or back crackers, but now insurance covers the service.

“I have seen extraordinary result over the years. People who once allowed a belief or a behavior to hold them back are now living a more productive and happier life. Like Cindy who was afraid to fly, but now flying to Europe and seeing the world. Or, Sherry who was sabotaging her business by not doing the paperwork. And Melissa who drank everyday to escape the disappointment she had in herself. And John who started dating again after years of sinking into depression after the end of his 38-year marriage.”

The remarkable part of these stories is that it didn’t take months or years of therapy, but instead only 4-6 sessions to shift into a new way of experiencing their own personal power. It is that powerful and in a day and age when people want things quickly and have little time, hypnosis can work in the background of the subconscious so their changes are effortless.

Most people associate hypnosis with helping people more easily stop smoking or lose weight, however The Flow Center offers programs that focus on building a better life strategy.
