Many of my clients belong to the “clean plate club” inducted unwillingly as elementary school children. And to this day continue to carry out that expectation EVEN IF they are no longer hungry.

So how do we break that pattern? As Doctor Phil would abruptly say, “Put that fork down, Just put the fork down, can you put the fork down now”?

Leave some food on your plate

However I would say to you in my hypnotic voice, “Put your utensils down between bites, chew each bite thoroughly, etc etc” (watch the video).

Replacing the old idea of “clean your plate” which was made before you were old enough to decide for yourself whether that would be a good idea to still do into your 50s; with an idea that you are more tuned in to your feeling of fullness and push your plate away, pushing away excess calories.
