I see a great deal of clients who are on blood pressure medication and that are also enrolled in our stress management program. So I was wondering about the connection between stress and high blood pressure.
Reading on several online medical sites, there doesn’t seem to be a link, here is what the Mayo Clinic staff reports:

Here is another source that says a stressful lifestyle is what leads to high blood pressure or increase chances of heart disease.

Stress itself might be a risk factor, or it could be that high levels of stress make other risk factors (such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure) worse. For example, if you are under stress, your blood pressure goes up, you may overeat, you may exercise less, and you may be more likely to smoke.” Source: WebMD
So if you are feeling stressed out and reaching for chocolate chip cookies, a pack of smokes or a bottle of wine to ease your mind you can be inadvertently creating a state in your body that leads to heart disease.
