Habit Change Must Occur for Lasting Weight Loss, says Dallas Hypnotist Valerie Grimes

The new weight loss drug Qnexa promises to suppress appetites, however habit change must occur for lasting weight loss and hypnosis for habit change can lead to permanent weight loss.

Listening to a radio interview on March 5, 2012 on KERA 90.1 Sam Baker was interviewing Tammy Beaumont Weight Management Director for Methodist Health System about Qnexa, the newest weight loss drug under FDA review:

Here is an excerpt from the interview (The rest can be read here):

Baker: …many people who will say, “I have tried everything. So I’m praying that somebody comes along with something like a pill.”

Tammy Beaumont: Well we all want a magic pill. We all want the magic thing that’s going to work. But the truth is, no one thing is going to work for everybody. And that’s why you have to maybe try, if your doctor recommends, that you’re a candidate for it – because obviously there are medical conditions that would make it unsafe for you to try Qnexa.

That last statement made me wonder, so I looked into the ingredients in Qnexa and one of them is Phentermine, which the US National Library of Medicine’s website says it should not be taken is you are on Zoloft, Prozac, or Paxil.  Also, if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, and others. Here is a complete list.

It seems the people that would need to lose weight the most can’t take it because they already have the conditions that may make it dangerous to take.

The Times reported that use of Qnexa led to an average weight loss of approximately 10 percent body weight after one year. However, some of that lost weight was gained back in the second year of use.

This is due to the fact that those people are not addressing the bad habits that led to the weight increase; they are not doing the mental work to change their brains about food and exercise.

Habit Change Must Occur for Lasting Weight Loss, says Dallas Hypnotist Valerie Grimes.

Hypnosis is a natural, safe, and rapid way to change eating habits, start to exercise and gain more satisfaction from the new healthier foods.  The result is lasting weight loss for a healthy lifetime.
